What should be my next step?
When you find out you are pregnant unexpectedly, you may feel overwhelmed with all the decisions you have to make. It’s important to take one step at a time and make sure you feel confident about your decisions about your pregnancy.
First, think about what you value in life, what your current situation is, and the people around you who can be part of your support system. If you don’t know what decision you want to make about your pregnancy, it may be helpful to talk to other women who have been where you are right now. Hearing other people’s stories can help you process your own emotions and let you know that you’re not alone.
Caris counselors can also help you with the next steps that you need to take to care of yourself and your pregnancy once you have made a decision. A counselor can help you talk through the steps and discuss overcoming and hurdles that may be preventing you from accomplishing those steps. Caris has a large list of referrals information that can help you get what you need in order to take the next step, whether that is to sign up for insurance, get a doctor, tell your family about the pregnancy, or something else.
Women tell us that it’s helpful to have someone to talk to who can be 100% objective. That’s why you can contact Caris at any time to speak with a counselor. We are here to walk alongside you as you decide what to do—and help you with your next steps.
