Reasons you might miss your period

While pregnancy is one reason you might miss your period, it is not the only reason. Here are some other possibilities:

  • Stress
  • Fatigue
  • Travel
  • Increased or excessive exercise
  • Medication such as birth control. Starting, stopping, or taking birth control inconsistently can all impact your menstrual cycle
  • Illness or STDs
  • Excessive weight loss or gain
  • Eating disorders, such as anorexia or bulimia
  • Illegal drug use
  • Hormonal problems
  • Breast-feeding often delays regular periods until a woman has stopped breast-feeding
