Is it possible to miss my period and not be pregnant?
Yes, there could be a variety of reasons that you might miss a period, a pregnancy being one of them. If you’ve missed a period, a Caris counselor can perform a free pregnancy test for you so you can know for sure if you are pregnant or not.
The pregnancy tests that Caris performs are 99% accurate 2 weeks after a missed period. However, they can detect a pregnancy before that time; they are just most accurate after 2 weeks. The unknown can be a scary place. If you have missed a period and want to take a pregnancy test sooner than 2 weeks after your missed period, Caris is happy to perform a free test for you.
Your counselor will give you the results of your tests immediately, so you won’t have to wait to find out if you are pregnant. Once you have your results, your counselor will sit and talk with you and answer any questions you might have. Learn more about how our counselors can help you.
If your test results are negative, your counselor will invite you to return for a re-test the following week if you still do not get your period. However, if you have missed a period and you are not pregnant, it is still important to be seen by a doctor to determine the possible cause. A doctor can help you explore other medical/biological explanations as to why you may be missing your period.
