Perfect Joy

"When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy." Psalm 94:19

Have you ever found yourself anxious, worrying about a situation that seemingly had no easy solution?

I love the fullness of God's Word because the Bible always manages to address the realities of our lives. In the book of Philippians, the Bible mentions that we are to be anxious for nothing, that if we make our requests known to Him through prayer and thanksgiving that His peace would guard our hearts and our minds (Philippians 4:6-7). This verse in Philippians gives us the recipe for guarding against anxiety.

But the book of Psalms gives us another beautiful picture of a loving and compassionate father. It says that WHEN anxiety was great, God stepped in, (Psalm 94:19). Our loving Father knows that at times, even though He tells us we need not worry, we may still give in to anxiety. But He steps in and chooses to console us rather than scold us in order to turn our anxiety into joy. Wow! What an awesome God we serve!

Know that in the midst of our darkest moments - moments of uncertainty and anxiety - our Heavenly Father's response is to put our hearts and minds at ease in order that we might experience His perfect joy.

Do not let your hearts be troubled. Take hold of that joy today!
