A Special Invitation

"Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him." Psalm 34:8

Have you ever been invited to someone's house for dinner and frankly, you weren't sure if you would enjoy thee meal? Perhaps it was the first time that your new girlfriend or boyfriend ever cooked for you or it was the first time eating at your in-law's house. In any event, you knew that eating food was expected, whether or not you enjoyed it.

Well, as believers we are invited to taste the goodness of the Lord. I especially enjoy the Message Bible's version, telling us to "open our mouths and taste." And we know that God's goodness would never disappoint. The Lord also invites us to feast at His table - but instead of giving us a well-cooked meal, He gives us the Bread of Life - Himself.

Whenever we experience the joy of partaking in well-cooked meals prepared by family or friends, let us continually be reminded of the privilege we have in being invited to the greatest feast of all, for all eternity. So open your mouth and taste. And enjoy the blessing of the invitation.
