Unplanned Pregnancy Services
Why Come to Caris?
Our promise is to be there for you as you’re making a decision, and figuring out what to do next. We’ll also help you find the support and resources you need. Caris offers several services, all at no charge. All our services are completely confidential. Check them out. If you’re interested in learning more, come visit us at one of our locations.
Anyone who comes to Caris is given the opportunity to receive a free pregnancy test. Our tests are lab-quality and 99% accurate. The results are immediate, so you will not have to wait to find out whether your test is positive or negative.
Clients with a positive pregnancy test at Caris can receive a free limited ultrasound at both of our locations from a registered nurse. Our ultrasounds are able to determine how far along you are in your pregnancy.
Our professional counselors are here to listen and to help you sort through your thoughts about your pregnancy and your options—without judgment. We know you have a lot on your mind right now, and making sure that you have a place to talk openly about how you’re feeling is our top priority.
Eligible clients with a positive pregnancy test at Caris will be able to sign up for Mom’s and Babies Insurance; the State of Illinois insurance program for pregnant women. Your counselor will walk you through the process of signing up for this program.
A Caris Connection Group is a safe, accepting, and empowering community of women who help each other thrive during and after an unexpected pregnancy. It’s a place to be yourself, ask questions, and talk things through with other women who are in a similar stage of life.
At Caris, we are committed to helping you find the support and resources you need during and after an unexpected pregnancy so you can be confident in your next steps. Through our network of trusted partner organizations, you can connect to the resources that are available in your community.
Through the services listed above, Caris has helped thousands of women during and after their pregnancy decision. Please read more below about what you can expect from a visit to Caris.
Finding out you are pregnant unexpectedly can feel overwhelming. We want you to have a safe place to figure out your next steps. That’s why we commit to being:
- Non-biased and accepting instead of judgmental
- Counseling-focused instead of medical or informational
- Warm instead of clinical
- Focused on you instead of an agenda
At Caris, you will have space to sort through your decision because all of our pregnancy tests and one-on-one sessions are done by master’s level, professional counselors. Counselors don’t give advice or share their opinion. They’re trained to ask questions that will help you understand what you are feeling about being pregnant and about your three options—parenting, adoption or abortion.
We help you find the support and resources you need afterward in three ways:
- You can continue to receive pregnancy-related counseling even after you decide on parenting, adoption or abortion.
- Your counselor will ask questions to understand what you need and then connect you to community programs and agencies that specialize in meeting those needs. Learn more.
- You can join a Caris Connection Group, where you will find an accepting community of pregnant and parenting women who will support and empower you.
